ENPPI’s Hamdi Fathi set to join Al Ahly on four-and-a-half-year deal

ENPPI's Hamdi Fathi set to join Al Ahly on four-and-a-half-year deal
ENPPI's Hamdi Fathi is set to join Cairo giants Al Ahly after the Reds agreed a deal to sign the midfielder in the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder has been tracked by Al Ahly for over a year now, but ENPPI refused to sell him to Red Devils on a number of occasions.

However, Fathi's strong desire to join Al Ahly, forced ENPPI to accept an offer around L.E 25 million from the Reds, with the player signing a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Fathi becomes Al Ahly's seventh winter signing after deals for Hussein El-Shahat, Mohamed Mahmoud, Ramadan Sobhi, Geraldo, Mahmoud Wahid, and Yasser Ibrahim.

He also becomes the third ENPPI player to join Al Ahly in less than a year after and Ali Lotfi, who moved to the club in January 2018.

Hamdi Fathi exploded onto the scene with Ala'ab Damanhour during the club's time in the Egyptian Premier League in the 2014/2015 season.

His performances earned him a move to ENPPI in 2015, however, he struggled during his first season with the club, which made them loan him to Petrojet.

During his short stint with Petrojet, Fathi scored twice in 29 games, before returning back to ENPPI, and since then he has been one of their key players.

Fathi made 53 appearances for ENPPI, scoring six goals and assisting further six. Overall, he played over 100 games in the Egyptian Premier League, scoring 11 goals and assisting 10.
