AS Vita Club coach: Al Ahly is the best team in Africa
AS Vita Club boss Florent Ibengé has praised Al Ahly after his side’s 2-0 loss, adding that the sent-off has affected his side’s performance.
The Red Devils secured a valuable 2-0 home win against AS Vita Club in the first round of the CAF Champions League group-stages, thanks to goals from Nasser Maher and Ali Maaloul.
The victory put Al Ahly second in group D, behind leaders Simba SC on goal difference. Their next game will be against Algeria’s JS Saoura away from home next Friday.
“We had several problems during the match, we have five games remaining and we will work on resolving these issues,” Ibengé said.
“The sent-off has negatively affected my team’s performance, we faced a lot of difficulties during the game because of that incident.
“I know that Al Ahly is the best team in Africa, but we will work on qualifying for the next round,” he added.
AS Vita Club will host Tanzania side Simba SC in their next game, after the latter thrashed Algeria’s JS Saoura 3-0 at home.
