Tunisian defender Yohan Benalouane joins Nottingham Forest
Benalouane, who first started his career in France, where he was born, with AS Saint-Etienne’s youth team, will now start a new adventure with former Republic of Ireland coach Martin O’Neill.
The 31-year-old made only 29 appearances with Leicester City’s first team and 22 games with the youth team. He won the Premier League title with the club in 2016.
Before that, Benalouane spent a few years in Italy playing for RC Cesena, Parma, Atalanta. After signing with Leicester in 2015 he was loaned to Fiorentina for a short period and then returned to the English club in 2016.
“The manager is a big personality in England,” Benalouane said after his move. “Everyone knows him; he is a person who knows what he wants, that is important and it is an honour to work for him.”
The player was part of Tunisia’s squad in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and played one game. He made a total of five international appearances.
