Kevin-Prince Boateng completes surprise move to Barcelona

Former international has officially joined European giants Barcelona on loan for the rest of the season in a sensational move.

Boateng joined Serie A outfit Sassuolo in summer 2018 on a free transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt. He featured a total of 15 games between Serie A and Coppa Italia where he netted five goals and registered two assists.

Barcelona announced on Monday they have reached an agreement to sign the 31-year-old forward on loan with an option to buy by the end of the season in a deal that is worth €8 million. The player will be presented on Tuesday, 22 January, according to the club.

Boateng commenced his career in Germany where he nurtured, before moving to Tottenham in 2007 from Hertha Berlin, only to re-route back to Germany to join Borussia Dortmund on loan.

The former Ghana man joined Milan in 2010 after a prosperous World Cup campaign with the Black Stars. He spent successful three years with the Rossoneri before joining Schalke in 2013.

Boateng is a familiar face to La Liga clubs, as he was active in the league in season 2016/2017 with Las Palmas.
