Sabry Rahil leaves Ittihad after just two weeks, joins Pyramids on loan
Rahil, who had been at Al Ahly since July 2013, has joined Ittihad of Alexandria on a two-and-a-half year deal after falling down the pecking order at the Reds.
His playing minutes were limited during his last couple of seasons with Al Ahly due to the presence of Ali Maaloul and Ayman Ashraf, and he was forced to leave the club after the arrival of Mahmoud Wahid from Misr El-Makasa.
The 31-year-old has agreed to join Ittihad of Alexandria, signing a deal that will keep him at the club until July 2021.
Surprisingly, however, Ittihad have announced that Rahil will join Pyramids on loan until the end of the season, with Ahmed Tawfik heading the opposite direction on loan as well.
The Alexandrian club have announced they were forced to let Rahil go after the arrival of El-Sayed Salem from Wadi Degla as well as the presence of Mohamed Nasef and Karim El-Deeb.
Pyramids FC will become Sabry Rahi’s fifth Egyptian club after stints at Misr El-Makkasa, Zamalek, Al Ahly, and Ittihad.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Tawfik will go the other way on loan until the end of the season, after playing only six games with Pyramids since joining them from Zamalek last summer.
Tawfik, who has one cap for Egypt, hasn’t played a game since November 21, and will hope he can get more playing time at Ittihad of Alexandria.
Pyramids are currently second in the Egyptian Premier League with 38 points, while Ittihad sit 13th with 20 points.
