Egypt defeat Tunisia, play in 7th place play-off in World Championship
Egypt handball team managed to secure a vital victory over Tunisia in their final game in the 2019 World’s Men Handball Championship’s main round to qualify to the seventh-place play-off.
Egypt had qualified for the main round after finishing third in Group D of the tournament after Sweden and Hungary. They were initially drawn Qatar, Argentina, and Angola, in addition to the aforementioned two nations.
After losing to Denmark in the previous round, the Pharaohs lost their chance to be among the final four to play for the title and were aiming to defeat Tunisia to reach the seventh-place play-off.
The Egyptians were able to control their game against Tunisia from the start and led the first half 15-10. A similar scenario happened in the second half and the team was able to widen their lead and finish the game 30-23.
As he scored seven goals and helped his team win the game, Zamalek player Yehia Khaled was named Man of the Match.
Norway gave Egypt a valuable gift as they smashed Hungary 35-26 which made the made the Pharaohs maintain their fourth position in the group.
Egypt will play against Spain on Saturday for a seventh-place finish which will could help them qualify to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
