Mohamed Salah wins Fans’ Player of the Month award for second month in a row
Egypt international Mohamed Salah has won the Players’ Football Association Fans’ Player of the Month award for January after beating off competition from Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba.
The 26-year-old forward won the award for the second month running after previously triumphing last December. Liverpool got off the wrong foot at the start of January after losing to their closest rivals for the title Manchester City two goals to one. Just over a week later, Salah scored Liverpool’s only goal of the match as the Reds managed to beat Brighton and Hove Albion away from home.
In their third match of the month and probably most exciting all season, Salah’s brace managed to help Liverpool earn a tough 4-3 wins against Crystal Palace at Anfield. The forward was not on the scoresheet in their last game of the month as Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw against Leicester City.
Salah managed to beat off stern competition from Manchester United trio David De Gea, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba, Manchester City’s Leroy Sane and Watford’s Troy Deeney.
The Egyptian leads the Premier League’s scoring charts with 16 goals this season, followed by Arsenal’s Aubameyang at 15 and Sergio Aguero with 14.
