After fan footage appeared to show a West Ham fan shouting Islamophobic abuse towards the Egyptian as he took a corner at the London Stadium. The fan in question is overhead saying “Salah, you f****** Muslim, f****** Muslim ****”.

As it was previously announced that West Ham would be working with police on the matter, it has now been reported by Sky Sports that the club have handed evidence to the Metropolitan Police, which is the main police force of London.

While it has not been confirmed what evidence they have submitted, it is likely to be CCTV identification of the fan in question so that the police will know who to charge.

In similar cases in the past, fans have received stadium bans where they will have to check in at the police station while their club’s match is taking place as proof that they are not at the match.

Salah can now focus on the action on the pitch, with Liverpool’s next game being at Anfield against Bournemouth at 5PM Egyptian time on Saturday 9th of February.
