Hamdy Fathi scores as Al Ahly snatch a hard-fought win against Haras El-Hodood

Hamdy Fathi’s goal was the difference as defeated Haras El-Hodood 1-0 in the Egyptian Premier League.

Haras El-Hodood started on the front foot as they pressed forward and prevented the Reds from advancing towards their area.

The Red Devils managed to break the deadlock seconds before the halftime whistle through Fathi, who converted Ali Malloul’s crossed freeekick past El-Hodood’s goalkeeper with a flying header.

The Reds tried to double their lead early in the second half, however, they lacked the final touch as El-Hodood maintained strong organised defence.

In the 85th minute, the Alexandian side nearly scored the leveller after miscommunication between Ayman Ashraf and Mohamed El-Shennawy, however, Saad Samir pulled off an outstanding goalline save, ending the game as a 1-0 win for the Red Devils.

After the win, Al Ahly sit third with 39 points ahead of their important clash against Simba on the 12th of February in the CAF Champions League. Meanwhile, El-Hodood occupy the 11th spot with 24 points and will face Petrojet on the 15th of February.

Mohammed Salama is a 21-year-old who fell in love with football since Egypt's AFCON final match against Ivory Coast! Strangely enough an Al Ahly and Al Masry fan locally. In addition, he's a hardcore Bayern Munich supporter.
