VIDEO: Ahmed Hegazi assists West Brom’s winner against Stoke City
Egypt international Ahmed Hegazi has assisted West Brom’s winning goal against Stoke City in the 30th round of the EFL Championship.
Stoke City hosted the Baggies on Saturday, with the latter needing nothing less than three points to close the gap on Leeds United and Norwich City, who sit top of the table.
The game witnessed Ahmed Hegazi’s 26th league start as he partnered Craig Dawson in the heart of West Brom’s defence.
The only goal of the game came after 25 minutes from the start, when Stefan Johansen’s free-kick was first-time volleyed by Ahmed Hegazi across the goal for Dwight Gayle to nod home from inside the box.
This marked Hegazi’s second assist in the Championship, with the first one coming in his side’s 4-3 win over Norwich City back in August.
Following the win, West Brom are currently fourth in the Championship with 53 points, only four away from the automatic promotion places.
Their next game will take place on Tuesday, February 12 when they host ninth-placed Nottingham Forest at the Hawthorns.
