Ahmed Hegazi included in EFL Championship Team of the Week
Egypt international and West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi has been included in the EFL Championship team of the week for gameweek 31.
Hegazi helped the Baggies earn a tough 1-0 win against Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium, assisting the club’s winner and producing a solid defensive performance which helped his side keep a clean sheet.
The only goal of the game came after 25 minutes from the start, when Stefan Johansen’s free-kick was first-time volleyed by Ahmed Hegazi across the goal for Dwight Gayle to nod home from inside the box.
This marked Hegazi’s second assist in the Championship, with the first one coming in his side’s 4-3 win over Norwich City back in August.
Hegazi was the only West Brom player to make the squad, which witnessed the inclusion of Lee Camp, Tomas Kalas, Emi Buendia, and Billy Sharp.
Goalkeeper: Lee Camp (Birmingham City).
Defenders: Regan Poole (Newport County), Tomas Kalas (Bristol City), Ahmed Hegazi (West Bromwich Albion), Sam Stubbs (Notts County)
Midfielders: Jay O’Shea (Bury), Emi Buendia (Norwich City), Johan Branger (Oldham Athletic).
Forwards: Cauley Woodrow (Barnsley), Billy Sharp (Sheffield United), Che Adams (Birmingham City).
