CAF announce dates for Ismaily CL games against CS Constantine
Ismaily have been disqualified from the CAF Champions League following the fans’ riot in their club’s 2-1 defeat to Tunisian side Club African last month.
However, the CAF have decided to overturn their decision of suspending the Yellow Dragons, and decided to impose heavy fines on the club instead of elimination.
This means that Ismaily will be forced to face Algerian side CS Constantine twice within a week in order to remain on schedule with the other teams.
Their first clash, which was supposed to take place in the third round, has been officially announced to be played on the 23rd of February in Ismailia, a week before the away leg.
Ismaily have suffered a defeat the last time they hosted an Algerian side in Ismailia, losing 1-0 to JS Kabylie in the group-stages of the 2010 CAF Champions League, before losing by the same result yet again in Algeria.
The two defeats put Ismaily bottom of group C with zero points, seven behind leaders Mazembe, and six behind CS Constantine, while Club African sit third with four points, however, Mazembe and Club African have played two games more.
