Zamalek earn hard-fought 2-1 victory against ENPPI

Khaled Boutaib and Mahmoud Kahraba both scored to snatch an important 2-1 win for Zamalek against ENPPI in the Egyptian Premier League.

Zamalek started in an electrifying fashion, when Boutaib intercepted the ball from ENPPI’s goalkeeper, and finished calmly into the empty net to make it 1-0 in the 21st minute.

In the first minute of injury time, Kahraba was released behind ENPPI’s defence. The winger controlled the ball skillfully and unleashed a curling effort that nestled into the cback of the net.

The Petroleum side started fiercely in the second half, and their high pressure paid off in the 56th minute as they reduced the deficit through Mohamed Bassiouny.

Boutaib nearly restored Zamalek’s two goal lead 10 minutes before the fulltime whistle. Hamid Ahdad dribbled brilliantly past ENPPI’s back line and squared the ball to Boutaib, whose close range effort hit the post.

After the win, the White Knights cement their position on top of the league table with 51 points and will face Tala’a El Geish next week. Meanwhile, ENPPI remain 15th with 21 points ahead of their clash against Al Masry on the 26th of February.

Mohammed Salama is a 21-year-old who fell in love with football since Egypt's AFCON final match against Ivory Coast! Strangely enough an Al Ahly and Al Masry fan locally. In addition, he's a hardcore Bayern Munich supporter.
