CAF fine Ismaily, order them to play two games behind closed doors
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have released new sanctions against Ismaily due to the club fans’ riot during the game against Club African in the Champions League.
El Daraweesh were eliminated from the tournament due to the riots caused by fans, who according to the match officials, “have been continuously throwing stones and water bottles on the assistant referee and the visiting team specifically on the 86th minute while Club Africain’s team was attempting to take a corner kick.”
CAF have decided to hand Ismaily a 40K USD fine for the fans riots at the end of the Club Africain encounter. The Ismailia-based club was also ordered to play two games in the Champions League group stages behind close doors.
Ismaily announced on their official website that they will launch an appeal against the CAF decision.
