Al Ahly reject EFA’s new calendar amendments
Al Ahly had released a lengthy statement in early February in which they rejected any changes in their domestic schedule as well as announcing they will boycott the Arab competitions.
However, the Egyptian Football Association announced new match dates which saw them replace Al Ahly’s encounter against Pyramids in the league with the one in Egypt Cup round of 16.
“Al Ahly have decided, following today’s board of directors meeting, to stand by the decision released on February 9, 2019 which is to categorically refuse the replacement of any of the team’s league game with another in the cup in response to any sort of pressure,” Al Ahly said in official statement.
“The EFA themselves who prepared league schedule with no interference from any side. We have communicated our decision to the EFA on February 10, 2019 and before the presence of any new changes on the schedule.”
“Al Ahly also stress they retain all the legitimate rights without ceding the legal proceedings the board have taken regarding the regulations’ breaching in EFA’s meeting with clubs presidents and representatives.”
