Lasarte laments league schedule, can’t ask players for more
Al Ahly coach Martin Lasarte has expressed his astonishment from how the Egyptian Premier League schedule is assembled, admitting that he can’t ask his players give more.
The win allowed the Red Devils to become joint second with Pyramids with 45 points while also reducing the point difference with leaders Zamalek to seven points.
“Pyramids’ loss and Zamalek’s draw caused some pressure on the team but we had to only think about our game. The path is still long, we have a lot to do and we should continue like that,” Lasarte said.
“I am satisfied with the players’ performance. We play a lot of games every four days, I don’t recall dealing with a league schedule like that one. Nothing more than the victory can be requested from the players, asking for more would be unfair.”
“I am content with the January signings and the new deals signed.”
