Salah not obsessed with personal records, league title more important
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has stated that breaking personal records and topping the goalscorers chart do not concern him as much as winning the Premier League by the end of the season.
Liverpool have the chance to go three points clear off Manchester City on the top of the table when they face United at Old Trafford on February 24.
The Egypt international acknowledged the long-lasting rivarly between the two clubs will motivate the Red Devils to hinder Liverpool from going clear on the top of the table.
“As I’ve said before, for me, the record is not that important. Being the top scorer is important, but it never counts as No.1 – the Premier League is No.1,” Salah said.
“If we win [a game] 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 and anyone else scores, I don’t mind, I would be very, very happy. For me, the team is the most important thing.”
“I hope I can score [Premier League goal numbers] 50, 51, 52… but the most important thing is to win [our] game. We need to stay first in the table and that’s something very important for us.”
