OFFICIAL: Ivory Coast’s Lacina Traore joins Ujpest FC
Traore kicked-off his professional career with Ivorian side Stage d’Abidjan in 2006, where he spent two years before joining Romanian side CFR Cluj.
Having spent three years in Romania and winning two leagues and two domestic Cups, he earned a move to the Russian league, signing for Kuban Krasnodar.
After playing 81 games in Russia for both Krasnodar and Anzhi and scoring 36 goals, Traore joined Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in 2014.
During his time with the Monegasques, he went out on loan on several occasions namely, Everton, CSKA Moscow, Sporting Gijon, and SC Amiens.
Traore had been without a club since July 2018 after terminating his contract with AS Monaco. However, now he joined Hungarian side Ujpest FC as a free agent.
The 28-year-old has been capped 13 times by the Ivory Coast national team and was included in the squad that won the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.
Ujpest are currently third in the 12-team Hungarian league with 36 points, 10 below first-placed Ferencvaros. Their next game will be against sixth-placed MTK Budapest on March 2.
