South Sudanese referees appointed for Niger vs Egypt
South Sudanese referee Ring Nyler Malong will officiate Egypt’s AFCON qualifier against Niger in the forthcoming international break.
With Egypt as both the overwhelming favourites and having already qualified, the match in Niger is more of a formality than a competitive match.
While it will not be the most anticipated match, it will be used by CAF as an opportunity to give some more inexperienced officials a chance to prove themselves in a high profile setting.
The main referee for the match will be Ring Nyler Malong, with his compatriots Jasim Madir and George Primato Ulipo serving as assistants. James Michelle Alier will be 4th official and the entire referee team will be observed by a pair from Mauritania and Mali.
Malong’s previous experience in AFCON qualification includes a tie between Togo and Djibouti in 2015 which finished 2-0 to Togo, while more recently he took charge of South Africa’s 6-0 win over Seychelles in 2018.
Egypt travel to Niger on March 22nd with a time still to be arranged.
