VIDEO: Kouka continues goal scoring run as Olympiacos beat Apollon Smyrni
Ahmed Hassan Kouka’s goal-scoring streak continues as Olympiacos beat Apollon Smyrni 2-0 in the 23rd round of the Greek Super League.
Prior to Monday’s clash, the Egypt international managed to score eight goals in his last nine games with Olympiacos across all competitions.
Kouka was named in Olympiacos’ starting line-up as they travelled to face Apollon Smyrni in hope of securing the three points and keeping the pressure on league leaders PAOK FC.
24 minutes into the first-half, Olympiacos managed to take the lead after an own goal from Apollon’s defender Giannis Stathis.
In the 70th minute, Kouka managed to get on the scoresheet after going through on goal following a great pass from Daniel Podence, and the Egyptian had no problems finding the net.
The 25-year-old has now taken his tally to 12 goals in 26 games for Olympiacos across all competitions, with eight of these strikes coming in the league.
Kouka is currently fifth in the Greek Super League scoring charts, eight behind the current top scorer Efthymios Koulouris. AEK Athens’ Ezequiel Ponce, who is on loan from AS Roma, is in second place 14 strikes, four more than Kouka’s teammate Konstantinos Fortounis.
Following the win, Olympiacos are currently second on the league table with 54 points, seven behind leaders PAOK FC, with seven games to go.
