Zamalek haven’t qualified for quarter-finals just yet, insists Gross
The White Knights have recorded a wide 4-0 victory against Gor Mahia at Borg El-Arab Stadium to top their group with eight points and boost their chances of qualifying for the following round.
They currently sit top of the group with eight points, one ahead of each Petro de Luanda and NA Hussein Dey, while Gor Mahia sit bottom with six points.
The 64-year-old Swiss manager has insisted that his side haven’t secured their place in the quarter-finals, saying it is all to play for in the final round of the group.
“I am very satisfied with the players’ performances today and with the wide deserved victory that they have recorded,” Gross said in his post-match press conference.
“Despite the win today we haven’t qualified for the quarter-finals yet and it won’t be decided before the final round.
“The game against NA Hussein Dey is very difficult and it will decide everything
“I have always stressed on the difficulty of the group and that’s what we have seen during the games we played,” he added.
Zamalek will travel to Algeria to face NA Hussein Dey in the final round, and they will need to avoid defeat in order to reach the quarter-finals.
