Former Egypt international defender Adam El Abd has said he is looking forward to facing his former club Shrewsbury when he returns from suspension this weekend.

Having faced some time on the sidelines with suspension, El Abd is set to return against the club where he spent a season in 2016-17.

The 34 year old said “It’s a huge game. It’s a six pointer really, cos if we beat them it puts seven points between us and them and if they beat us it’s down to one point. At this stage of the season with nine games to go it doesn’t really get bigger.”

“We’ve got lots of games against teams in the lower half of the division coming up, but having said that as we found out earlier in the season it doesn’t matter where they are in the league – it’s on the day. If we perform to our capabilities we’ve got a chance of winning any game of football, and if we make sure the details are right we’ll have a better chance of making sure the fine margins that decide games swing in our favour.”

He continued, “I’m looking forward to it [returning to former club]. Althoguh we didn’t have the best of seasons I enjoyed my time up there and thought it was a great club. I’m looking forward to going back there and playing.”

The match takes place on Saturday 16th March at 5PM Egyptian time.
