Salah surprised me at Liverpool, says Wojciech Szczesny
Szczesny and Salah spent two years together at AS Roma, before they both moved on to join Juventus and Liverpool respectively.
In his first with the Old Lady, Szczesny won the domestic treble, after winning the Serie A, the Italian Cup and the Italian Super Cup.
As for the Egyptian he had his fair share of achievements as he managed to reach the UEFA Champions League final.
In addition, he won a significant amount of individual awards such as the PFA Player of the Year award and the African Player of the year twice to name a few.
The Polish goalkeeper talked about the Egyptian’s personality and his improvement since joining the Reds, saying: “Salah is a great footballer, a great man, one of the most humble I know, very religious, you will never hear me say something bad about him.
“But I did not expect such an explosion in Liverpool, I thought he would have made the same numbers as Roma,” Szczesny told Youtube channel Foot Truck
“There, however, he plays more centrally, with a role similar to that of Ronaldo with Real Madrid, where he started as a winger but was, in fact, a second striker.
“With Roma, he had a mediocre finish, same for Chelsea. In training, it was more difficult to concede goals than to parry, but he is one of the few people in the world of football for whom I am happy,” he added.
The Polish international played 31 games across all competitions with Juventus this season, where he conceded just 22 goals and kept 16 clean sheets.
Both players might face each other in the Champions League quarterfinal if Liverpool and Juventus get drawn together. The draw will take place on Friday, March at 12 pm GMT+2.
