Boutaib to miss Zamalek league fixture against Arab Contractors
A draw against NA Hussein Dey on Sunday was enough for Zamalek to reach the CAF Confederations Cup quarterfinals, after they picked up only two points from their opening three games, but seven points from nine in the return-legs ensured their place in the knockout rounds.
Boutaib was named in Morocco’s squad for their final game in the qualifiers against Malawi before facing Argentina in an international friendly on March 26.
The 31-year-old striker skipped Zamalek’s training session on Monday after heading to Morocco to join the Lions of Atlas’ training camp. Zamalek made attempts to hold on their January signing until the Arab Contractors game, nonetheless, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation rebuffed the Whites’ effort and insisted on having him on time.
The former Malatyaspor striker joined Zamalek in the January window and has two goals to his name in five games in the Egyptian Premier League.
