Blow for Zamalek as Sassi, Ahdad suspended for first-leg of CC quarter-finals

The Whites have picked up only two points from their opening three games, but seven points from nine in the return-legs ensured their place in the knockout rounds.

They needed to get at least a draw in Algeria to qualify for the quarter-finals, which they managed to do after a memorable defensive display.

However, Zamalek’s evening was slightly spoiled after Tunisian midfielder Ferjani Sassi and Morocco’s Hamid Ahdaad picked up yellow cards, which will see them miss the first-leg of the quarter-final tie.

Sassi has been Zamalek’s most consistent player this season across all competitions, while Hamid Ahdaad played a key role in guiding the Whites to the knockout rounds.

Zamalek will face one of Morocco’s Hassania Agadir, Tunisian giants Étoile du Sahel, or Nkana FC of Zambia in the quarter-finals of the competition, with the first-leg taking place away from home.

Even in moments of Zamalek victory, some prefer to focus on negativity and call it a “blow”.
Zamalek will continue to move forward with confidence and with love and support of all it’s fans worldwide. No sympathy for the ill-wishers.
