Cairo derby to take place in Borg El-Arab stadium
Both sides are yet to face each other in the league this season due to their commitment to Continental and Arab competitions.
Nonetheless, Egypt’s football governing body announced earlier this month that the Cairo Derby will take place on March 30.
Even though the game was previously announced that the game will be played in Alexandria, EFA board member Ahmed Megahed that the location might change due to the pitch’s poor condition.
However, the Egyptian FA published a statement today on Twitter confirming that the game will finally take place in Borg El-Arab.
“The president of the EFA’s competitions committee, Amer Hussein, said that Borg El-Arab stadium is ready to host the postponed clash from match-day 17 between Zamalek and Al Ahly, which will take place on March 30,” they published in their statement.
“As for the game between Wadi Degla and Smouha, it will be played on March 29 in the Mex stadium instead of Borg El-Arab.”

The EFA have had their fair share of scheduling problems this season. Especially after Egypt were handed the hosting rights for the 2019 AFCON.
Egyptian side Pyramids FC have already threatened to issue a complaint against Egypt’s football governing body due to their poor organization.
In addition, Al Ahly also released a statement refusing to accept any schedule changes issued by the EFA. After the latter changed Egypt’s Cup schedule.
Zamalek are currently on top of the league table with 52 points. Their next game will be against Arab Contractors tomorrow on Thursday, March 20.
As for Al Ahly, they sit second with 51. Their upcoming game will be against the White Knights.
