Ghanian forwards Andre Ayew said that it’s going to be difficult for them to win the 2019 AFCON that is set to take place in Egypt between June and July.

Ghana have secured qualification to the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) after they finished on top of their three-team group with nine points, two ahead of second-placed Kenya.

The upcoming AFCON will be the first of its kind as it will have 24 participant countries instead of 16.

Therefore the Black Stars captain believes that this edition of the tournament will be especially hard because more teams will be competing for the trophy.

“It is going to be difficult, It is not going to be easy, even with 16 it was not easy but we will take each match at a time and do what we can to reach the final,” he said in an interview in Accra.

“We are still very much committed towards winning the AFCON and our attention has always been on that,”

The 29-year-old moved to Turkish giants Fenerbahce at the end of last season on loan from Swansea City. During his first 32 games in Turkey he managed to score just five goals and provided two assists across all competitions.
