Trezeguet in France Football’s shortlist for African Player of the Month
Egypt’s Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet has been included in a three-man shorlist alongside Ivory Coast’s Nicolas Pepe and Senegal’s Edouard Mendy formed by France Football for the African Player of the Month in March.
Trezeguet is having one of his best campaigns since leaving Egypt this term. He made 26 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig for Kasimpasa so far this season where he managed to score eight goals and deliver seven assists.
The 24-year-old winger scored twice in the league in March, one in his side’s 2-2 against Trabzonspor and another decisive goal against Akhisar Belediyespor. Trezeguet also was behind Egypt’s sole goal against Niger in their final AFCON qualifier last month. His performances granted him a place in the final France Football shortlis for the best in Africa in March.
The former Al Ahly player was also accompanied by Nicolas Pepe who is on an exquisite form this season with Ligue 1 outfit Lille. He scored 18 goals and assisted 11 others in the league. He scored thrice in March including one goal for Ivory Coast. The third contender for the award is Edouardo Mendy as he got rewarded for his heroics with Reims, after he conceded three goals all month.
France Football have set a poll up for their public users to choose the best among the three players with the end of it set on April 8.
