Tala’a El-Geish manager believes Sundowns can beat Al Ahly
Sundowns are set to host Al Ahly on Saturday, April 6, at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarterfinals.
Luc Eymael took charge of El-Geish in November 2018 and managed them in 13 games winning three, drawing five and losing another five.
The Belgian managed several teams across Africa including Free State Stars and Polokwane City in South Africa. As well as Tunisia’s JS Kairouan, Rwandan giants Rayon Sport and AS Vita Club to name a few.
The 59-year-old believes that Mamelodi Sundowns can beat the Red Devils.
“Sundowns can beat Al Ahly, the same as Al Ahly can beat Sundowns, it’s 50/50,” Eymael told KickOff.com.
“For me the results at home will be very important, certainly important for the second leg. Al Ahly has big players injured like Walid Soliman, also missing in the midfield is one of the midfielders who I can’t remember his name and he’s very important.
“Their defensive midfield is a little bit solid because they moved the right-back to defensive midfield because as I said before one their midfielders is injured.
“For the rest they have good strikers, good attack but they will miss the experience of a guy like Soliman who has been influential in the competition this season and in the title race [in Egypt], which they are still in.
“Sundowns have a chance. It’s Champions League, anything can happen. Two very big teams facing each other but as I said before results will be very important for Sundowns at home,”
