Mahmoud Trezeguet voted France Football African POTM for March
Trezeguet is having one of his best campaigns since leaving Egypt this term. He made 26 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig for Kasimpasa so far this season, where he managed to score eight goals and deliver nine assists.
The 24-year-old winger scored twice in the league in March, one in his side’s 2-2 against Trabzonspor and another decisive goal against Akhisar Belediyespor.
Trezeguet also was behind Egypt’s sole goal against Niger in their final AFCON qualifier last month and his performances granted him a place in the final France Football shortlist for the best in Africa in March.
He was nominated alongside Ivory Coast’s Nicolas Pépé, who plies his trade at Ligue 1 outfit Lille, as well as Senegal and Stade de Reims goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
However, the Egyptian clinched the award after gaining 82% of the votes, ahead of Nicolas Pépé, who came second with 13%, and third-placed Mendy, who won only 5% of the votes.
Trezeguet continued his strong performances in April, starting the month with a crucial assist in Kasimpasa’s 2-1 victory over Büyüksehir Belediye Erzurumspor on Sunday.
