Olivier Giroud shows solidarity with Salah after racial chants
Chelsea and France striker striker Olivier Giroud has sided with Liverpool star Mohamed Salah against the few individuals from Chelsea fans who participated in a discriminatory chant against the Premier League talisman.
A footage emerged on Thursday morning of travelling Chelsea fans ahead of their Europa League tie against Slavia Praha, appeared to have been filmed by themselves, singing discriminatory chants in which they describe Salah as a “bomber”.
Chelsea have released a statement slamming the fans involved in the matter, confirming that they are taking the necessary measurements against these individuals.
“I think these people shouldn’t belong to Chelsea. I think the club and everybody condemns these kind of things,” Giroud said following Chelsea’s Europa League triumph against Slavia Praha.
“We are 100 per cent behind Mo Salah. I think nowadays it shouldn’t happen,” he added.
Chelsea will take on Liverpool in the English Premier League’s 34th round in the top game of the matchweek.
