Al Ahly manager Martin Lasarte promised the fans that him and the players will give everything they’ve got to try and overcome .

Al Ahly will host Sundowns in Suez next Saturday April 14 in the second-leg of the quarterfinals.

They will have an uphill battle in the second-leg as they were handed a humiliating 5-0 loss during the first game.

However Al Ahly boss Martin Lasarte believes that his side can qualify for the next round of the competition.

“We performed badly during the first game and we want to do our best to improve the way the team played against the South African giants in the first leg,” Lasarte said during the pre-match press conference.

“I got used to these difficult situations since I took charge of the team and the situation keeps repeating itself everytime we go through a rough patch.

“Football doesn’t handle promises and there are no surprises. All we have to do is respect the tactics and for the players to compensate what happened in the first leg,” he added.

“It was very important for us to work on improving mentally and retrieve the players’ confidence. And I think that El-Makassa game in the league and its positive result, that made us sit on top of the league, helped us retrieve the confidence and the mental balanced,”

The Reds beat Misr El-Makassa last Wednesday to return on top of the Egyptian Premier League table.

“As for the fans, I never got the chance to see a big amount of them yet but I’m sure they’ll make a difference in all that involved Al Ahly’s future.

“All we can promise the fans before tomorrow’s game is that we will give everything we’ve got and we’ll fight until the last drop of sweat to correct our image,”
