Mohamed Salah reveals reason behind celebration after Chelsea stunner
Mohamed Salah has revealed the reason behind his celebration following his stunning strike against Chelsea on Sunday.
Salah secured a huge victory for Liverpool with an absolute thunderbolt from around 25-yards from goal that went past Kepa Arrizabalaga and into the top corner.
The goal is Mohamed Salah’s fifth against Chelsea in nine games across four competitions, with three of the strikes coming during the Egyptian’s stint at FC Basel.
The Egyptian celebrated the goal by adopting a yoga-style pose, and he explained the celebration, saying: “I am a yoga man! I do yoga and it just came into my mind.
Asked about his goal, Salah told Sky Sports: “I don’t think. I just feel. Normally I shoot with the inside of my foot. But this one I decided, because it was far, to hit it with power. I was lucky the ball hit the net like that.”
The victory kept Liverpool title hopes very much alive as they return back to the top of the Premier League table, two points ahead of Manchester City, however, the latter still have a game in hand.
And Salah believes if the Reds managed to win their remaining four games against Cardiff City, Huddersfield, Newcastle, and Wolves, they will be crowned champions.
“We just need to focus on our game and hope Manchester City will lose points,” Salah said.
“I did follow Man City to see the result, it can help us but also it can push us to perform better. You need to score, you can’t lose any points, I knew the result of Manchester City’s game.”
The Egyptian has faced a lot of criticism this season, and Salah commented on that, saying: “It’s different when other teams have two or three players on me.
“[Sadio] Mane is having a very good season, so is [Roberto] Firmino, they are scoring more goals than last season, because the attention on me is giving them more freedom, and I am very happy for them.
“It helps the team to score more goals, when they focus on my side the other side is free, we are a team and we focus on the team.
“I am not complaining, I am happy with the result, we are first now so that’s the most important thing. The Premier League is the most important thing for me,” he added.
