Ashley Cole admits he did not think Salah was masterclass
Cole, who currently plays for Derby County FC, departed Chelsea right before the Egyptian joined, before linking up again as teammates at AS Roma two years later.
When asked if he expected Salah to rise back again, Cole stated, “To be honest, no. I saw in training the ability that he had but he seems to have become more ruthless”.
He added, “I don’t mean selfish in a bad way but he wants to score goals. That’s his job. He needs to score goals. Him, Firmino and Mane all play well together but I think he’s become a little bit more.
“It’s about me now, it’s my time. He’s had enough of the other players being in the shadow and he wants to be the main man.”
The 26-year-old scored a stunning goal as Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-0 at Anfield to return top of the Premier League table. Salah has now scored 19 goals in the Premier League and is currently the league top scorer alongside Man City’s Sergio Aguero.
