Liverpool ease past Porto, sets Barcelona clash in Champions League semifinal
Mohamed Salah scored as Liverpool battered Porto with a 4-1 win in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinal to confirm their first leg advantage and seal qualification to the semifinal.
Liverpool FC had beaten Portuguese powerhouse Porto 2-0 in the Champions League quarterfinals first leg at Anfield, and assured their win after scoring four goals past Casillas to set a big meeting against Barcelona in the penultimate round.
Liverpool opened the scoring through Sadio Mane who tapped in Salah’s assist in a goal that was initially whistled offside before being given following a VAR review.
In the second half, the Egypt international doubled the Reds’ lead after receiving a delightful pass from Alexander-Arnold on the break to slot the ball past Casillas.
Few minutes later Porto managed to find the way of the net and reduce the deficit through Eder Militao’s powerful header from a corner kick, but it wasn’t sufficient for the Dragons to get back in the tie.
Substitute Roberto Firmino and Virgil Van Dijk secured the big away result for Liverpool with two headers to clinch the semifinal qualification for the second year in a row.
