Zamalek return to winning ways with a convincing 2-0 win against Ismaily

Omar El-Said and Youssef Obama both scored as Zamalek defeated Ismaily 2-0 to top the Egyptian Premier League table.

Zamalek got off to an electrifying fashion, when Ahmed Sayed ‘Zizo’ released Ibrahim Hassan behind Ismaily’s backline, however, Mohamed Fawzy saved cleverly in the 13th minute.

Ten minutes later, Ismaily responded through Benson Shilongo who went on a one-on-one situation with Mahmoud ‘Gennesh’, but the Namibian’s low strike was cleared by the keeper.

El-Said came one to replace the injured Khaled Boutaib in the 25th minute.

Six minutes past the half-hour mark, super sub El-Said broke the deadlock for the Whites when he slotted the ball into the bottom corner after poor clearance of a corner kick by Ismaily’s backline.

Just two minutes after the restart, Obama doubled the scoreline when he advanced towards the box and drilled the ball into the back of Fawzy’s net.

Mohamed Ibrahim nearly extended the White Knights’ lead to 3-0, when got at the end of a loose ball near the edge of the box, but his shot was parried away by Fawzy.

After the win, Zamalek temporarily regain the league’s top spot with 60 points ahead of their clash against Pyramids. Meanwhile, Ismaily sit seventh with 37 points and are set to face Wadi Degla next week.
