Keno’s goal helps Pyramids down Al Ahly

Keno’s goal was enough as Pyramids sealed a 1-0 victory against Al Ahly to overtake the Red Devils into the second place.

The victory has proved Pyramids’ superiority over Al Ahly this season as they managed to secure their second victory over Lasarte’s men.

The start of the game was quiet with both teams exchanging their control over the game without any threat.

The goal came after 14th minute in the game through Pyramids’s Brazilian winger Keno who controlled the ball on the left side without pressure from Agatha before sending a curling effort into the top corner.

Five minute later, Pyramids were on the verge of  adding a second goal through Nasser Mansy who hit the post with his shot before Keno couldn’t score from the rebound.

Al Ahly began to feel the pressure and start trying to threat Pyramids’ net, the first try came in the 22nd minute throughout a Azarou whose header was denied by Ahmed El Shennawy.

Al Ahly were the dominant side in the first half, however Pyramids’ defensive organization kept them away from any danger.

In the dying moments of the first half, Geraldo could have scored the equalizer for Al Ahly when he received a low cross from Ali Maaloul but he failed to find the net from a very close range.

In the second half, Pyramids entered the game with a similar approach, defending their 1-0 lead and depends on the counters for threatening Al Ahly.

Walid Azarou was on the verge of scoring the equalizer in the 54th minute for Al Ahly but his header once again failed to find the net.

Lasarte attempted to change things and decided to field Ajayi in the place of of Hussein El Shahat. In the 68th minute, Geraldo had the biggest opportunity of the game when he failed to exploit Omar Gaber’s failed clearance and sent a weak show at El-Shennawy who tipped it to a corner.

Ajayi has been moved into the middle after Marwan Mohsen had replaced Saleh Gomaa, which have Al Ahly a bit of creativity but again lacked the final touch.

In the dying moments, Marwan Mohsen had his shot blocked by Pyramids defence in Al Ahly’s last offensive attempt of the game before the final whsitle give the three points to Pyramids.
