Lasarte defends his work after Pyramids debacle
Al Ahly coach Martin Lasarte has defended his job with the first team since arriving in January, claiming that he arrived among chaos but he managed to improve the situation.
Keno’s goal was enough as Pyramids sealed a 1-0 victory against Al Ahly to overtake the Red Devils into the second place after the latter occupied the league leadership for the first week in the previous Egyptian Premier League round.
Al Ahly have dropped to the third place with 58 points and will line up against Al Masry in the upcoming league fixture.
“I’m still affected by the game. Pyramids started better and scored then we ended the first half on a high note, but we weren’t lucky to score our chances,” Lasarte said.
“When you concede a goal your job becomes tougher. We squandered five chances while Pyramids scored a goal from two or three opportunities. All what we got to do is to continue working on ourselves.”
“When I took over the team there was chaos but things improved with time. We were 12 points away from the leadership and now we battle for the title. There is a part of the work lies with the management and the other part with me.”
“Football doesn’t move on a straight line. Things change every week, we have to wait until the end of the season and at the time we either win the title or not.”
