James Shan gives Ahmed Hegazi injury update ahead of playoffs
The Baggies have secured their place in playoffs with two games to spare and will most likely face Ahmed Elmohamady’s Aston Villa in the semi-finals.
However, Hegazi’s absence against Reading on Monday has raised concerns among the fans after he limped out after only 18 minutes during their 3-2 victory over Hull City.
Following the game, Shan has reassured the fans and played down injury concerns, saying Hegazi was only rested against Reading.
“No he [Hegazi] was rested today because he came off in the game against Hull,” James Shan said.
“As all players that come off with a bit of tightness, they are underneath the medical department.
“We’ve got an optional recovery day tomorrow, a day off the following day. So will we know more on Thursday.
“But he was totally rested today due to the fact he came off in the Hull game,” he added.
West Brom have still two games to play in their regular season, with the first one coming against Rotherham on Saturday, April 27, before facing Derby County away on Sunday, May 5.
