Mido: Salah has been a victim of his own success

Former Egypt international striker Mido believes that Salah has received unfair criticism this season due to the heights he reached in 2017-18.

The former Tottenham and Ajax striker believes that despite not necessarily being at the same level as last season, Salah has still been one of the best players in the Premier League and was deserving of a place in the PFA Team of the season.

The 36 year old said “I think he’s been great this season and I think he’s been a victim of his own success, you could say that. People are looking at Salah and always thinking about what he’s done last season and that this season is not the same.”

“But if you look at this season I think Salah has been one of the best players in the Premier League and I was really surprised that he hasn’t been picked in the PFA Team of the Season. Yeah, Mane deserved to be there of course and Sterling deserved to be there but I also think Salah deserves it too. Aguero deserves to be there too but I would have put in Salah.”

Salah may not have retained the individual accolades, but he will be hoping to win his first piece of silverware since his days at Basel as Liverpool continue their title pursuit in their next league game which is away at Newcastle next Saturday, which follows the first leg of their Champions League semi final first leg in Barcelona.
