Olympique Lyonnais interested in Egypt’s Mahmoud Trezeguet – Report
Les Gones are set to finish third in Ligue 1 in the season which saw them getting knocked out of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 by Barcelona as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Coupe de France.
And one of their transfer targets for next season is Egypt’s Mahmoud Trezeguet, who currently plies his trade at Turkey’s Kasimpasa, according to France Football.
Signed from RSC Anderlecht in 2017, Trezeguet has set the world alight at Kasimpasa, having made 67 appearances for them, in which he has scored 25 goals and made 18 assists.
However, the Egyptian is not their main target and Lyonnais will only consider signing him in case their negotiations with Watford’s Dodi Lukebakio falls through.
Lukebakio is currently on loan at Bundesliga outfit Fortuna Düsseldorf and has managed to score 14 goals while providing five assists in 31 games across all competitions.
As reported by France Football, the 21-year-old Belgian is valued between €10m and €15m, while Trezeguet will cost them only €7m.
The Al Ahly youngster has confirmed last month that he is set to leave Kasmipasa next summer after the club promised him to let him go in the upcoming transfer window.
If he managed to secure a deal with Lyonnais, Trezeguet will become the first Egyptian to play in Ligue 1 since 2008, with Ahmed Abou Moslem being the last one to do so when he featured for RC Strasbourg.
