Mohamed Salah is irreplaceable, says Gary Neville
Manchester United legend Gary Neville has labelled Mohamed Salah as irreplaceable at Liverpool ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Barcelona.
Liverpool go into the match trailing 3-0 from the first leg and will need to score four goals while keeping a clean sheet to advance to a second successive final.
And to make matters worse, the Reds will have to do it without two of their key players in Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino who will miss the game through injuries.
Salah suffered a concussion and was taken off on a stretcher against Newcastle on Saturday following a heavy collision with the opposition’s goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
And Gary Neville believes Liverpool are lucky not to lose the duo for a long time this season, as they both among the five irreplaceable players at the Reds.
“Liverpool’s squad depth has been criticised all season. The likelihood for me is that if Liverpool had suffered with injuries, they would have struggled,” Neville said on Monday Night Football.
“[Mohamed] Salah, [Roberto] Firmino and [Sadio] Mane have been almost ever-present. So have [Virgil] van Dijk and Alisson.
“Those are the five players that I call irreplaceable at Liverpool. If any of those had been injured for long periods, I think Liverpool would have struggled,” he added.
