John Antwi believes he deserves place in Ghana squad

striker believes he should be part of the team that takes part in the 2019 next June.

Antwi first started his career in Egypt through Ismaily in late 2012, where he won the league’s top scorer award. He later moved to Saudi Arabia to play for Al-Shabab, before returning to join Cairo giants Al Ahly.

However, the forward’s spell with the Red Devils did not work well and he was loaned twice to Misr El Makkasa, before the club decided to activate their option to buy the player and made the deal permanent in July 2018.

The Ghana international talked about his country’s chances in lifting the upcoming AFCON and that he should make Kwesi Appiah’s squad for the tournament.

“Every country coming to the tournament are in to win it but all will depend on the team, so just as Ghana wants to win it, Egypt are equally ready to win it and keep the cup here,” Antwi told FOX FM.

“My expectations are that my name will be in the squad when the call up is made (for the AFCON 2019) because looking at my performances here it will be good if I’m given the opportunity so I can also play for my country Ghana,” he added.

Back in November, the 26-year-old became the all-time foreign goalscorer in the Egyptian Premier after reaching 62 goals. Most recently he scored his 12th goal of the season for the Fayoum-based side, during their 2-1 win to Nogoom FC.

Misr El-Makassa are currently sixth on the league table with 45 points, just three away from the top four.
