This made Gross start him against El-Dakhleya on Sunday to increase his match sharpness, and the 33-year-old repaid the faith shown in him by saving a penalty and helping the Whites to a 2-1 victory.

Gross will now have start 21-year-old in the final, with no replacements sitting on the bench as the club have only registered three goalkeepers for the competition.

Salah is a product of Zamalek’s youth sector, and has made only five appearances for the first team in the last three years, including three in the Egypt Cup.
