Aston Villa win penalty shootouts to reach Championship playoffs final

’s have beaten ’s 4-3 on penalties in the playoffs semifinals.

The Villains win the first leg 2-1 at home thanks to striker from Conor Hourihane and Tammy Abraham.

On the other side, The Baggies had to enter the second leg without first-choice striker Dwight Gayle.

In the 29th minute, West Brom centre-back Craig Dawson converted Holgate’s cross into the back of the net.

Then ten minutes before the end of the game Chris Brunt got sent off after receiving a second yellow card. Forcing the hosts to play with 10 men for the rest of the game.

The official time ended 1-0 and 2-2 on aggregate, meaning that they had to go to extra time.

Just six minutes before the penalty shootouts Elmohamady got subbed-off for 21-year-old forward Keinan Davis.

The game ended in a draw on aggregate, making it go to penalty shootouts. West Brom’s first two penalty takers, Mason Holgate and Ahmed Hegazi, missed their penalties. While Aston Villa converted the first two.

The hosts went on to score all of their remaining penalties, while Villa missed just one out of the five, making them come out on top 4-3 on penalties.

Aston Villa will now face the winner between Leeds United and Derby County in the final.
