Al Ahly secure CAF Champions League place, Pyramids FC out of title race


Al Ahly have secured their place in the CAF Champions League next season following a tough 2-0 victory against ENPPI on Thursday.

Goals from Hussein El-Shahat and Marwan Mohsen have cemented Al Ahly’s position at the top of the Egyptian Premier League with 73 points from 31 games.

The point tally means that they are guaranteed a top two place alongside one of Zamalek and , as the latter have only two games left to play.

Pyramids FC currently have 66 points from 32 games, making the best point tally they can reach is 72, in case they beat Nogoom FC and Haras El-Hodood.

This means that they are officially out of the title race and so close to losing the second league spot as Zamalek need only seven points from their remaining five games to return to the CAF Champions League.

Zamalek will face Entag El-Harby, Ismaily, Haras El-Hodood, El-Gouna, and Al Ahly in their remaining games, as they are currently seven points behind leaders Al Ahly, who have played two games more.

On the other hand, the Reds’ last three games will be against Ismaily, Arab Contractors, and Zamalek, with seven points enough for the title holders to win their 41st league title.
