Ali Maher believes ENPPI punished for being wasteful
ENPPI boss Ali Maher has explained his team’s latest debacle in the Egyptian Premier League against Cairo giants Al Ahly with a 2-0 defeat, lamenting the missed chances that played part in the game result.
Goals from Hussein El-Shahat and Marwan Mohsen helped Al Ahly seal another victory position at the top of the Egyptian Premier League with 73 points from 31 games.
The point tally means that they are guaranteed a top two place alongside one of Zamalek and Pyramids FC, as the latter have only two games left to play.
“I played to win the game. I trained the players throughout the week on exerting high pressure but when you face big teams you can’t afford handing them gifts,” Maher said in post-match press conference.
“When you receive chances against Al Ahly you must score, when you miss you get punished.”
ENPPI currently occupy the ninth place with 36 points, with two games to spare against Misr El-Makkasa and Nogoom FC.
