Cristian Benavente called-up for Costa Rica, Colombia friendlies
Pyramids FC’s Peruvian international, Cristian Benavente, has been called-up to participate in his national team’s friendlies against Costa Rica and Colombia ahead of the 2019 Copa America.
Benavente joined Egyptian side Pyramids FC from Belgium’s RSC Charleroi in January. The 24-year-old is a Real Madrid academy graduate but was never able to make it to the first team.
Then in 2015, he moved on a free transfer for English League Two side MK Dons, where he spent just one month in England before moving to Belgium.
During the previous international break, it was rumoured that the 24-year-old was called-up, however, their manager Ricardo Gareca denied it and criticized Benavente’s move to Egypt.
Benavente was also recently linked to a move back to his home country to join 23-times Peruvian champions Allianz Lima.
However Peruvian outlet, Libero TV announced that the winger has declined their offer to play for the Cairo-based side.

The Copa America is set to take place in Brazil between June 14 and July 7. Peru were drawn in Group A alongside the hosts, Bolivia and Venezuela.
