Lasarte justifies Azarou’s scoring incapability
Al Ahly coach Martin Lasarte has responded to the inquiry about Azarou’s countless misses and his inability to convert many of the chances he receive, saying that his main focus is on the remaining league games.
Al Ahly have secured their place in the CAF Champions League next season following a tough 2-0 victory against ENPPI on Thursday.
Goals from Hussein El-Shahat and Marwan Mohsen have cemented Al Ahly’s position at the top of the Egyptian Premier League with 73 points from 31 games. The point tally means that they are guaranteed a top two place alongside one of Zamalek and Pyramids FC, as the latter have only two games left to play, setting the latter officially out of the title race.
“It’s a fair result. We created a lot of chances but we still fail to take advantage of them in the best way in order to facilitate our game,” Lasarte said.
“Azarou? Any striker in the world goes through a dip in form. Benzema had a period where he wasn’t scoring for several weeks and currently he is scoring a lot of goals with Real Madrid. This is football.”
“I don’t want to speak about hypotheses in the meantime. I don’t know when will we face Zamalek, my complete focus on the coming games.”
