Gross promises to win Confederation Cup title following first-leg defeat
The Whites fell to an away 1-0 defeat to Morocco’s RS Berkane after a 93rd-minute winner from Togo international Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba.
Zamalek now need to win by a two-goal margin at Borg El-Arab next Sunday in order to secure the title, while a draw will be enough for RS Berkane.
Speaking after the game, Chrisitan Gross said: “I am so disappointed about the last minute goal that we conceded, but we can win in the return leg.
“We entered the game looking for a positive result, but the Moroccan team managed to score in the dying moments of the game.
“The players tried to score during the game, but luck was not on our side, and we were playing against a tough time, who have a number of special players.
“We will fight to win in the return-leg. I promise the fans and the club’s board the CAF Confederation Cup title,” he added.
The game will take place at Borg El-Arab, Alexandria next Sunday, May 26, with 30,000 fans expected to attend the final showdown.
